• Building personal relationships with locals is imperative.

• Supporting leaders who are accepted and respected is effective.

• Leaders who hear community concerns and ideas are supported.

• Amenyo should help those who are willing to help themselves

• have leverage - a multiplied impact on the community.

• are "owned by the community"; community is fully engaged.

• will last without long term external resources: lasting change.

• have the parties in aid process being both givers and receivers.
