President’s Letter to Friends of the Amenyo Foundation, 1/14/2019

Dear Friends of the Amenyo Foundation,

As 2019 opens, we have great news to share about what we have been able to accomplish in our work with the Council of Chiefs, Elders, and the people of Kpenoe and Ho, Ghana. Our work of development partnership continues with great results.Through the generosity of many, during this past year the Foundation was able to provide scholarship assistance to a total of 35 students for their high school and post high school education. We are honored to announce that in the past year eight of our University and Polytechnic students graduated.  Truly remarkable!

During our visit to Ghana this summer, we witnessed the continuing progress being made in the delivery of health services to the people of the Kpenoe-Takla-Akoefe area. Through the generosity of one of our supporters we were able to provide a motor bike for use by our midwife as she performs emergency and postnatal visits. Other families’ donations enabled the purchase of two wheelchairs and privacy screens for use in Kpenoe clinic’s maternity/obstetrics wards, and the provision of a year's salary for a medical assistant. During the visit to the Schoonhaven Cured Lepers’ Village, we provided food, medicine, and other resources to the more than 60 residents.

The work of the foundation is changing the lives of many in the area of Kpenoe. And now we look ahead. During this academic year, we are sponsoring the education of 41 students. We will continue to support the work of the clinic and the Cured Lepers Village.

All of these efforts will require the continued tireless support of the 12 dedicated women who are the Batik Boutique, the ongoing generosity of current sponsors, the leadership of our Foundation's Board, and the development of an increased sponsor base.

Thank you for your support in the past. We hope and pray you will continue to support our important work in the future.

James W. Christensen, President, Amenyo Foundation
